Clive Brooks would like to inform you that he will be producing a Robert Sorby email newsletter specifically for woodturners in Ireland.
It will cover dates for Robert Sorby demonstrations in Ireland as well as highlighting new tools and products introduced by Robert Sorby.
There will also be information on other major woodworking events happening within the UK and Ireland and other general information in the woodturning world.

Mark Baker and Clive Brooks in Ireland (Posted Jan 27th 2010)

Once again, Clive Brooks from Robert Sorby is touring Ireland. This time, we have invited Mark Baker to demonstrate. Mark Baker has many year's experience as a teacher of woodturning and has also been involved in the design and manufacture of woodturning tools. He is well known to professionals and hobbyists alike as the editor of GMC's Woodturning magazine. A full range of Robert Sorby woodturning tools will be on display, with free advice from Clive on the day, as well as special prices on all of the Sorby Range.

Saturday 27th February, 10am to 4pm. Cover charge of 5 euro per head

New AGM Date (Posted Dec 22nd 2009)

The postponed AGM of the IWG has been rescheduled for Sunday January 24th 2010 in the Abbey Hotel, Galway Road, Roscommon, beginning at 2PM. Nominations for the Executive committee can be sent to the Hon Secretary up to January 16th 2010.


Sligo Chapter website to be relaunched (Posted Dec 1st 2009)

We hear that Chris fahey of the Sligo Chapter is working in the background on a revamp of the Chapter's website.This is going to be a big deal as he is going the full "nine yards" he even has graphic designers on board. The site is due to be relaunched in January next. Watch this space for more details.


McQuillans Announce December Tool Show (Posted Nov 26th 2009)

McQuillans Tools are having a tool show on December 11th and 12th in their premises at 34/36 Caple Street, Dublin 1. They have reductions on a range of tools especially Record Power tools. McQuillans also stock a range of wood blanks that are kiln dried. Check it out and mention the IWG - You might do a better deal!!

AGM POSTPONED

AGM Postponed (Posted Nov 21th 2009 11:30AM) The Executive Committee has decided to postpone the AGM to a later date due to adverse weather conditions. The committee agreed to take the advice of the Gardai, Met Office and AA in the interest of safety. The executive Committee would like to apologise for any inconvenience due to this decision. A new date for the AGM will be circulated later.

Another Great Seminar (Posted Oct 5th 2009)

The Ulster Chapter recently hosted a wonderful three days of woodturning at the National Seminar which was held in Armagh on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th. There were lots of great woodturning demonstrations, discussions, competition entries and renewing old aquaintances. There was a wonderful gallery of pieces on display.


Woodturning Exhibition, Ballymoney Museum 11th – 21st November 2009 (Posted Aug 27th 2009)
After extensive renovations, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Ballymoney Museum is delighted to welcome back the woodturning exhibition once again.
Beautiful pieces, turned by members of the Ulster Chapter, will be on display in the newly refurbished venue.
Most items will be for sale.

Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm; Friday 9am-4.30pm
Late night openings: Thursday 12th & 19th; Tuesday 17th 7.30pm-9.30pm


Seamus Cassidy wins RDS competition again (Posted Aug 27th 2009)
Seamus Cassidy once again won the RDS National Crafts Competition Woodturning Section this year. Seamus also took the overall second prize.

Membership must be paid at the first meeting in the year
